In a successful operation, officers from Safer Transport MPS Wandsworth sighted a stolen vehicle in MPS Lambeth earlier today, according to a spokesperson from the Met Police Roads & Transport.

The incident unfolded when vigilant Met Police Roads & Transport officers spotted a silver Toyota Prius, which was reported stolen, in the Lambeth area. Taking immediate action, the police decided to employ pre-emptive tactics in an attempt to apprehend the suspect.

However, as the officers closed in on the stolen vehicle, the driver unexpectedly pulled over and parked it, allowing the police to make an easy arrest.

The recovered Toyota Prius was found to have a TfL Private Hire Vehicle (PHV) license displayed in the windscreen. At this stage there has been no suggestion that the stolen vehicle was being unlawfully used as a PHV.

Police officers have returned the stolen Toyota Prius to its rightful owner.

A spokesperson from Met Police Roads & Transport said: "Officers from Safer Transport MPS Wandsworth sighted a stolen vehicle in MPS Lambeth.

“Pre-emptive tactics were authorised but the driver decided to park it for us.

“Male arrested & vehicle to be returned to owner.”

The vehicle was a silver Toyota Prius with a TfL Private Hire Vehicle (PHV) licence displayed in the windscreen.
