‘Taxi Cop’ catches motorist now facing fine and points for DANGEROUSLY positioned mobile device

A motorist was pulled over by police officers and now faces a fine and points after ridiculously and dangerously positioning their mobile in the middle of the windscreen.

In a photo shared by well-known south-west ‘Taxi Cop’ PC Patrick Quinton, it showed a mobile phone placed on the windscreen of the vehicle.

In May 2021, PC Quinton talked about the positioning of devices in TaxiPoint. PC Quinton said: “Many drivers put their devices in cradles attached to the windscreen and it is more difficult for drivers who have multiple devices. However, it is an offence to drive and not have a full view of the road and traffic ahead.

“Don’t put cradles/phones in “Zone A” of the windscreen (the strip above the steering wheel of 290mm centred on the wheel or over or above airbags). Mount your device low down on your windscreen to the far right to maximise your view of the road. If this isn’t possible, opt for the lowest point in the middle of the windscreen or better still attach it to the dashboard away from the window.”

The driver of the vehicle now faces 3 points on their licence and a £100 fine.
