Taxi driver allegedly robbed at knifepoint for his vehicle in Derbyshire

A taxi driver has allegedly been robbed at knifepoint by his passengers who made off with his vehicle after picking them up in Derby.


When picking up the fare three men got into the back of the taxi. The driver has told police officers the men asked him to drive to Meadow Lane in Alvaston.

He parked up in Meadow Lane and one of the men allegedly produced a knife and threatened him, taking the keys from the ignition.


The men took the taxi and left the driver in Meadow Lane. The car was later found abandoned in Swinburne Street.

Two men were arrested nearby on suspicion of robbery, questioned and released under investigation while inquiries continue.


Officers would like to speak to the man pictured in case he has information which could help with their inquiries.
