Rossendale Police are appealing for help in tracing a taxi driver who could be a key witness to an assault, outside Mimi's Takeaway, Rawtenstall.
It was reported that a man was assaulted outside the takeaway, on Bacup Road, at around 00:55am on Bank Holiday Monday, 31 August.
The 36-year-old man was taken to hospital to be treated for a fractured skull, after falling to the floor and hitting his head during the assault.
A taxi driver is thought to have picked up a man and woman outside the takeaway, shortly after the incident, at around 1am, and taken them to Haslingden.
Officers believe the taxi driver may have vital dashcam footage and information to assist with their investigation.
Despite a number of enquiries at local taxi firms, the police have not managed to trace the taxi driver - so if you think this is you, please get in touch with them, the force has stressed.
Anyone with information is asked to call police on 01282472205, or failing that, 101, quoting log number 0078 of 31 August.
