Taxi driver involved in Glasgow city centre crash as motorist charged with road traffic offence

A motorist has been charged with a road traffic offence following a collision involving a taxi in Glasgow city centre on Wednesday 8 July.
Police were called to reports of a two-vehicle crash at around 11.50am on Bothwell Street at the junction with West Campbell Street. Emergency services attended the scene, with officers managing traffic while the incident was dealt with.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 11.50am on Wednesday, July 8, 2026 police were called to a report of a two-car crash on Bothwell Street at the junction with West Campbell Street, Glasgow.
“Emergency services are in attendance and officers are assisting with traffic management.
“The driver of one of the cars has been charged in connection with a road traffic offence and will be the subject of a report to the Procurator Fiscal.”
The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service confirmed the collision involved a car and a taxi and said it mobilised two fire appliances after being alerted at 11.55am.
A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “We were alerted at 11.55am on Wednesday, July 8, to reports of a road traffic collision involving a car and a taxi on Bothwell Street, Glasgow.
“Operations Control mobilised two appliances to the scene to assist partners.
“One male casualty was treated at the scene by the Scottish Ambulance Service.”
