Taxi driver punched in face and robbed of cash in Middlesbrough

A taxi driver in Middlesbrough was robbed of their cash and punched in the face as police hunt down hooded attacker.


The incident happened yesterday morning at 6.25am by a 20-year-old man wearing a blue and black hooded jacket in the Valley Road area of Middlesbrough.

A Cleveland Police spokesperson said: “Police are appealing for information after a taxi driver was punched to the face and had cash stolen in Middlesbrough early this morning.

"The suspect - described as white, 20 years old, 5’8” tall and wearing a blue and black hooded jacket - then got out of the vehicle and ran down Valley Road before turning into Eastbourne Road."

Enquiries are on-going and police are appealing for anyone with information or anyone with dashcam or cctv which may have captured the incident to get in touch. Please contact Cleveland Police via the 101 number, quoting Ref 203699.
