Taxi driver repeatedly punched and beaten by passenger after route dispute in Surrey

Surrey Police are appealing for witnesses after an assault which happened just off the A322 in Bagshot at around 1am on Friday 26 November.

A taxi driver had picked up two men and two women in Camberley and was mid-journey when an argument broke out over directions and payments.

As the situation become increasingly verbally aggressive, the driver pulled over in Dukes Covert just off the Bracknell Road in Bagshot and asked the passengers to leave his car.


After they got out, one of the men approached the driver’s side door and punched the driver repeatedly to the head causing facial bleeding and bruising.


The suspect is described as White, tall with brown hair and wearing smart clothing. The other male passenger is described as White with brown hair and wearing a brown suit.

Both women are described as White, had their hair up and were wearing some glitter.

Inspector Jamie Hughes from Neighbourhood Policing Team said: “This was a violent assault on someone who was just trying to do their job.


“We are keen to speak to anyone who may have seen two men and two women getting out of a car at around this time and location or if they have any information which could help us with our investigation.”
