Taxi driver violently attacked and left with facial injuries by passenger in Middlesbrough

Cleveland Police are appealing for witnesses, CCTV and dashcam footage after an assault on a taxi driver in Middlesbrough.


The incident happened around 4:45am on Monday 4 January on Marton Grove Road.

Two men had been passengers in the taxi. As the men got out of the taxi, one proceeded to punch the driver multiple times in the head and face. This left the victim with a split lip and ear, and bruising to the head and face.


The suspect then made off from the scene.

The suspect is described as a white male, aged 25-30 years old, of medium build and around 5ft 6” tall.


Police have confirmed that nothing was stolen in the incident.

Any witnesses or anyone who may have CCTV or dashcam footage is asked to contact PC David French on 101, quoting incident number 001635.
