Taxi drivers in Scotland set to start receiving £1,500 support grant this week

Taxi and Private Hire Drivers and Taxi Operators are set to benefit from a new grant scheme, following an announcement from Scottish Government.

Licensed taxi or private hire drivers who previously received support through the Taxi Driver and Private Hire Vehicle Driver Support Fund, and hold a current Driver Licence, are eligible for an additional payment of £1,500.

Taxi operators may be eligible for a grant of between £1,000 - £15,000 depending on the number vehicle licences they hold.

If a driver has a current licence and is seeking the extra £1,500 grant, they do not need to do anything, as the grant will be paid automatically to them. The first grant payments will be made towards the end of the week commencing 7 June 2021.

According to the Highland Council, their Licensing Team will write directly to Taxi Operators from mid-June to gather the required information to enable the council to process applications for the grant. Operators do not need to do anything in the meantime until contacted.
