Electric taxi drivers can charge their vehicles for just 1p per kWh at a new ultra-rapid charging site in Silvertown from 9–15 June.
LEAP24 has opened a new 150kW charging hub on Oriental Road (E16), just four minutes from London City Airport. To mark the launch, the operator is offering a full week of charging at the lowest rate seen in the capital. Depending on the vehicle, a full charge could cost less than £1.
The site has been built with professional drivers in mind. It offers fast turnaround charging, clear access for larger vehicles, and 24/7 operation with card, app, or RFID payment. Most vehicles can gain a solid charge in 20 to 30 minutes—ideal between airport pick-ups or during rest breaks.
After the promotion ends, the price will return to LEAP24’s regular rate of 69p per kWh, which is currently the lowest standard ultra-rapid charging rate in London.
The site uses only renewable energy, including wind and solar. LEAP24 says the hub is part of its wider goal to support high-mileage drivers who need quick and reliable charging without paying a premium.
The Silvertown location adds another option for drivers already working in East London, with easy access to major routes and transport links.
Pelle Schlichting, Founder & CEO at LEAP24, said: “We’re excited to launch this incredible offer right where drivers need it most—by the airport, on key routes, and with true ultra-rapid speed.
“This promotion is a great way to try the network, but even at our regular 69p per kWh, we’re delivering London’s best value for high-speed public charging.”
