A local taxi company has completed a 9 vehicle trip from Devon and Cornwall to Poland, to hand out donations to Ukrainians fleeing their war torn country which is under attack by Russia.
'Darren's Cars' cab firm, which is based in Gunnislake, began the long road trip on Sunday morning. A number of the company's drivers as well as supporters of the cause transported essential supplies for Ukrainians affected by the ongoing crisis. The two day journey saw the drivers arrive in Warsaw on Tuesday evening.
The journey consisted of all nine vehicles travelling through France, Belgium, Holland, and Germany, before arriving at the Polish border.
Several videos have been posted on the 'Darren's Cars' Facebook page, keeping everyone updated on the mission's progress.
In a message posted before they left the UK, Mr Tair, who runs the business, said: "I know I have said it before but wow. We are overwhelmed with gratitude.
"The response we have had from our local community is unbelievable.
"This was never supposed to be a massive undertaking. So I can only apologise to the people that we couldn't accept things from.”
After arriving in Poland, Mr Tait wrote: "Well we’ve had a very long and emotional day.
"Unloaded all nine vehicles and now sat in a rush from being looked after by the local church community we are feeling very privileged to be in the company in such horrible times we have got lots of photos and bits of video to share and we will do that later we’re just wanted to let you all know we’ve done what we came to do.
"Thank you all very much for all your kind words donation of goods and helping with the cost of this trip we will be doing it again."
