Taxi rank assault sparks South Yorkshire Police appeal after a man was left with a serious injury

Officers for South Yorkshire Police are investigating an assault which occurred on Peel Square in Barnsley and are appealing for witnesses and information.
Officers received a call at 10:45pm on Saturday 17 October for reports of a man who had been assaulted in the taxi rank on Peel Square.
A 25 year-old man suffered a serious head injury, he remains in hospital in a stable but critical condition.
A 38 year-old man was arrested and has since been released on police bail.
Officers are keen to speak to anyone who witnessed the assault, and/or, who helped the victim following the assault while waiting for emergency services to attend.
They are also keen to hear from anyone who was driving along Peel Street between the hours of 10:30pm and 10:45pm and may have dash-cam footage.
