TaxiPoint launches first Premium news service for the taxi trade alongside its popular free offering

TaxiPoint has announced the launch of the industry’s first premium news service this month.

The move comes as publishers across the UK seek new ways to protect content from AI scraping and declining search engine traffic.

Since 2017, TaxiPoint has provided a free service, becoming the UK’s most-read source of taxi industry news. That free service will continue. But for those wanting more, the publisher is offering an exclusive weekly newsletter.

The new service will cost £4 a month and gives access to additional news stories, expert insights and historical content via a secure section of the TaxiPoint website.

In an effort to promote the premium service, TaxiPoint is offering free access until April 2026 to those who sign up now.

Perry Richardson, Editor and Partner at TaxiPoint, said the shift towards premium content is needed as AI tools increasingly reuse journalism without permission or return.

TaxiPoint now attracts nearly 250,000 regular readers. Richardson hopes a section of those will take up the premium service to support research-driven features and deeper trade analysis.

He said the new newsletter will include stories not published elsewhere, alongside background industry information that often sits outside the main news feed.

TaxiPoint says subscribers will also have a chance to shape future content by suggesting topics they want covered.
