A joint operation involving officers from Huddersfield Neighbourhood Policing Team and Kirklees Council taxi licensing officers resulted in the seizure of one vehicle after the driver was found to have no valid driving licence and no insurance.
The proactive enforcement operation took place on Wednesday 22 July on New Hey Road, Huddersfield. During the checks, 16 taxis were stopped and inspected, with all found to be compliant with licensing regulations.
Police said one vehicle was recovered after enquiries established the driver was uninsured and did not hold a valid licence.
Officers also issued a traffic ticket to another driver who was found to be carrying passengers in an unsafe manner.
In addition to the taxi checks, several other vehicles were stopped throughout the morning and had their documents examined. West Yorkshire Police said the majority of motorists were found to be driving legally.
