A taxi driver of over 15 years has died after what is believed to be a coronavirus related illness.

Alan Nelson, who worked alongside Royal Cars, passed away over the weekend of 10/11 October.

A spokesperson for Royal Cars has said: “Here at Royal Cars, we want to offer our deepest condolences to the family of Alan Nelson.

“Unfortunately, Alan passed away this weekend due to complications involving coronavirus. Alan was a reliable, friendly, and hard-working driver for our company for over 15 years and his passing has upset everyone involved in the company.

“Members of staff and fellow drivers will be having a minute silence in respect of Alan and his family on the 20 October.

“We cannot stress how important it is to protect yourselves, drivers and any one around you by sticking to the COVID-19 restrictions and wearing masks and using hand sanitizer whenever possible.”
