TfL continuing to “explore the concept” of zero-emission only taxi ranks says London Mayor

Transport for London are continuing to “explore the concept” of zero-emission only taxi ranks according to the Mayor of London.

The capital’s Mayor, Sadiq Khan, admitted the continued research whilst also saying he would explore the idea in the Marylebone area as suggested by a City Hall Assembly Member.

Taxi ranks are currently open to use for all of London’s licensed taxi drivers who meet the current vehicle licensing regulations.

There are currently approximately 3,500 zero-emission capable vehicles in the black taxi fleet.

Tony Devenish AM asked Khan: “When will Marylebone get its first Electric Vehicle-only taxi rank?”

Sadiq Khan responded via a written response saying: “Transport for London (TfL) continues to explore the concept of zero emission taxi ranks.  If you are able to provide TfL officers with details of a specific location in Marylebone, they would be more than happy to explore it with the City of Westminster.”
