The Taxi Centre has relocated to a new purpose-built facility in Glasgow, marking a significant milestone as the business celebrates 25 years serving the UK taxi and private hire industry.

The company, one of the UK’s largest specialist taxi vehicle providers, has moved into upgraded premises adjacent to its long-standing site on Kennishead Road in the Darnley area of Glasgow. The new location was officially opened by Marie Garrity as part of the firm’s anniversary celebrations.

The relocation keeps the business in its established Glasgow base while providing enhanced operational capacity and improved facilities for customers. A key feature of the new site is the integration of vehicle sales and aftersales services under one roof, allowing drivers to access vehicle purchasing, maintenance and support from a single location.

For the first time, customers will also have access to dedicated servicing facilities for LEVC vehicles at the site. The move reflects growing demand for specialist support as increasing numbers of taxi and private hire drivers adopt electrified vehicles.

Alongside the relocation, The Taxi Centre has expanded its vehicle portfolio to include models from Geely, providing drivers with additional vehicle options as the market continues to diversify.

Stephen Porter, Branch Manager at The Taxi Centre, said the move represented the next stage in the company’s development.

“Our move is a natural next step for the business as it looks to the future,” said Porter.

“Reaching 25 years gave us a moment to reflect on how far The Taxi Centre has come, but this move is really about what comes next. By bringing sales and aftersales together, we’re making life easier for our customers and improving the day-to-day experience for drivers who rely on their vehicles to earn a living.

“The new site gives us the space, facilities and flexibility to support them better than ever.”

The official opening also received support from Glasgow’s civic leadership. Jacqueline McLaren highlighted the company’s long-standing contribution to the city’s transport sector and welcomed the continued investment in local operations and employment.

“The Taxi Centre has been part of Glasgow’s transport landscape for a quarter of a century,” McLaren said. “This new premises shows a clear commitment to the city, to local jobs and to the taxi trade.”

The Taxi Centre forms part of  Vertu Motors, one of the UK’s largest automotive retail groups. Chief Executive Robert Forrester said the relocation demonstrates the group’s long-term commitment to the specialist taxi sector.

“The Taxi Centre’s relocation underlines the Group’s long-term commitment to the sector,” said Forrester. “Stephen and his team have built its reputation by understanding drivers and adapting as the market changes.

“This investment brings together sales, servicing and new technology in a way that genuinely benefits customers. It’s a strong example of how we continue to back specialist businesses within Vertu and support innovation across our operations.”
