THREE THEFTS: Police urge drivers to stay with vehicles when defrosting windows

Perry Richardson

Police officers are urging vehicle owners to be vigilant when defrosting as three vehicles in Lanarkshire have been stolen over two days.

According to police sources, a grey Lexus ES300H, a black Vauxhall Vivaro van and a blue Mercedes-Benz GLA were all stolen between 9am Monday 16 January and 7.30pm Tuesday 17 January.

A Lanarkshire Police spokesperson said: “These thefts are happening within seconds of people leaving their cars unattended and we are urging you to keep an eye out for suspicious vehicles but more importantly, to remain inside your vehicle when it defrosting or switched on.

“There is nothing to suggest that these thefts are linked, but enquiries into each report are ongoing

“If you have any CCTV/Doorbell cameras in any of these areas, please check your footage and if you have any information, please contact police on 101 quoting incident number 0693 of 16th January 2023.”
