Two Doncaster taxi and private hire licences REVOKED after council reviews

Two taxi and private hire licence holders have had their licences revoked after City of Doncaster Council concluded they were not “fit and proper” to continue operating.

The decisions were made by the council’s Licensing Sub-Committee on 8 July 2026 during a meeting held behind closed doors because the cases involved personal information. The published minutes do not disclose the conduct or incidents that prompted the reviews.

In one case, councillors revoked an existing private hire driver’s licence and associated private hire vehicle licence. A separate licence holder, who held hackney carriage and private hire driver permissions alongside a private hire vehicle licence, also had their licences revoked.

Another private hire driver had their licence suspended for three months and must successfully complete the council’s knowledge test before the suspension can be lifted.

A further driver was allowed to retain their hackney carriage and private hire driver and vehicle licences but received six penalty points against their private hire driver’s licence. The licence holder did not attend the hearing, although an email explaining their actions was read to the committee.

A fifth review was adjourned after the applicant and their representative said they could not attend. The case was rescheduled for the sub-committee meeting on 29 July 2026.
