A 23-year-old man from the Tipton area was held just after 11am today, while a man aged 21 was arrested in London at around 1pm.

Both will now be questioned over the killing of 18-year-old Kimani, who was described by his family as ‘jovial, loving and caring’.

A car sped away from the scene of the shooting, which happened just before 1.30am on Sunday 20 June.

Three special constables who were nearby came across the scene and tended to the youngster, but nothing could be done to save him.

He was taken to hospital and pronounced dead a short time later.

Det Insp Jim Colclough, leading the investigation, said: “These arrests are a significant development, but we are still appealing for people with information to get in touch with us if they have information which could help us.”

Earlier this week, the victim‘s family paid tribute to the 18-year-old. The family said in a statement: “Kimani Oshane Martin was a jovial, loving, caring, kind young man. He had a big heart, he loved everyone and was willing to help anyone. He loved his family dearly and he lived life to the fullest.

“We are deeply saddened and distraught over the loss of Kimani so suddenly. We are a close knit family and this will affect us forever. It has had a severe impact on his mom who is unwell. He will be extremely missed by his family and friends.”
