Uber driver suspended by council after journey captured showing passengers holding ladder

An Uber driver has had his licence suspended after being captured on video driving with passengers holding a LADDER outside the window last year.

The footage from September 2019 shows two passengers inside a Silver Honda private hire vehicle. One of the passengers sat in the front whilst the second sat in the rear, both holding the large ladder outside of the window as they drove the streets of Walsall.

The bizarre journey was caught by Mark Calver-Wilkes, who uploaded the video to his Facebook account with the caption "Only in Walsall no roof rack no problem".

The video quickly went viral with 10,000’s of viewers watching the clip from all around the world.

A private hearing on 15 January led by Walsall Council’s licensing sub committee discussed whether the unnamed male driver would be able to retain his licence.

The Committee’s Chair Suky Samra told Birmingham Live that the council “took the right decision to suspend his licence for three months".
