A taxi has been seized and the driver reported after roadside checks revealed that the vehicle had been unlicensed and untaxed since December 2021.

Garda Police conducted a roadside vehicle operation with the National Transport Authority on the evening of Sunday 24 April in Blanchardstown, Dublin, where a number of vehicles were checked.

A spokesperson for the force took to Twitter to highlight this one particular find, saying: "Blanchardstown roads policing unit recently conducted an operation with the National Transport Authority.

"A taxi was stopped and it was found to have no licence or tax since December 2021.

"The vehicle was seized & court proceedings are to follow. SaferRoads."

Twitter users had their say on the offence, with one writing on the post's feed: "Long ban needed for somebody like that. Complete disregyfor laws, public and honest road users. Thanks for taking him/her off the road."
