V Cars introduces additional safety measures to protect against COVID-19

V Cars, one of the South West’s largest taxi and private hire vehicle operators, has introduced new additional safety measures in a bid to protect drivers and passengers against COVID-19.

The operator has made face coverings available to all drivers as well as trialling an in-vehicle protective screen to help separate the driver from passengers.

To minimise passengers handling cash, contactless payment options are available on all bookings made via the V Cars mobile app and through its new SMS payment solution AirPay.

Drivers and their vehicles now also have access to specialist regional vehicle cleaning stations in another effort introduced by V Cars to help move passengers safely around their communities.

Passengers are advised – in line with UK Government guidance - to avoid contact and sit in the back seat while travelling, to wear their own face covering and to wash their hands before and after travelling.

Aaron Singh, Regional Director at V Cars, said: “V Cars has always been an agile and evolving business and we are expert at adapting to changing circumstances. This is a brave new world and we are keen to continue our service with as little impact as possible on passengers and Driver Partners, while introducing what safety measures we can. COVID-19 means we must all find new ways to go about everyday life safely but conveniently.

“Last week we launched the new Veezu Delivers app to make takeaway foods and everyday essentials available to residents across the suburbs of Bristol. The deliveries are completed by V Cars Driver Partners, meaning deliveries can now reach from Avonmouth to Yate and Keynsham to Backwell. Food and goods from outlets including Miss Millie’s, My Burrito and Belvino Wine Shop are no longer restricted to residents close to the city.

“We try and support our communities wherever we can and make things as convenient as possible for them. All deliveries are always left at the door, in keeping with social distancing measures.

“We are wholly committed to keeping our towns and cities moving safely 24/7. Key workers use V Cars as their first choice, knowing that their safety is also paramount to us and the driver-partners.

“We deliver essential supplies for many, including groceries and life-sustaining medical equipment to those in need. These are also left at a designated safe zone to minimise contact.”
