Veezu has made a strategic investment in Cab9, a booking and dispatch technology provider serving taxi and private hire operators across the UK and international markets, as the transport firm seeks to strengthen its technology capabilities and expand the development of AI-driven solutions.

The Cardiff-headquartered operator said Cab9 will continue to operate under its existing brand and leadership structure following the transaction. Cab9 CEO Tarpit Grover will remain in post and continue to lead product development, customer relationships and business operations while retaining a significant shareholding in the company.

According to Veezu, the investment is designed to support the development of AI and automation technologies aimed at helping taxi and private hire operators improve efficiency, reduce costs and expand service provision. The company said additional funding will be used to further develop Cab9’s technology platform while maintaining its focus on providing solutions for operators of all sizes.

The deal reflects the increasing importance of technology within the private hire sector, where operators are investing in automated dispatch systems, passenger apps, driver management tools and data-led operational platforms to improve service delivery and compete in a changing transport market. Veezu said technology has become an increasingly important component of its national growth strategy.

Investment will see Cab9 remain independently branded while receiving backing to accelerate development of AI and automation tools for taxi and private hire operators.

Grover said: “This is an exciting next chapter for Cab9 and the strongest leap forward in our journey so far. Over the last decade, we have built technology with purpose, care and a belief that the industry deserves better.” He added that the company’s people, products and approach “are being strengthened” through the partnership with Veezu.

Veezu’s Nathan Bowles said: "Cab9 has built an excellent reputation for delivering high-quality technology to operators across the sector. As Veezu has grown nationally, technology has become increasingly important to our long-term strategy and ability to serve passengers, driver partners and business customers. We are excited to be supporting the next stage of Cab9's growth and look forward to working closely with Tarpit and the team in the years ahead."

The investment also signals further consolidation between transport operators and technology providers across the taxi and private hire industry. Rather than absorbing Cab9 into its existing operations, Veezu intends for the business to continue operating independently while benefiting from additional capital and strategic support.

Veezu describes itself as the UK’s largest and fastest-growing taxi and private hire business, operating across hundreds of towns and cities and licensed by 63 local authorities across England and Wales. The company says more than 20,000 drivers partnered with the platform during 2025.
