‘VERY DANGEROUS’: Police put on extra resources to catch youths launching stones at taxis

Police put on extra resources to catch youths launching stones at passing taxis in Burnley.

According to West Yorkshire Police sources based in Burnley, there have been several reports of children throwing stones at cabs over the last few days.

Officers have warned that anyone found doing the ‘very dangerous’ act will be prosecuted.

A Burnley Police spokesperson said: "We have had several reports about juveniles throwing stones at taxis on Manchester Road, Burnley over the last few evenings.

"Not only is this very dangerous but the act in itself is a criminal offence so we ask that people remind their children not to behave in this manner when out with friends.

"We have patrols in the area over the weekend and anyone found throwing any item at a car will be prosecuted.

"We thank everyone who has assisted with our enquiries so far – if anyone has any more information please contact us on 101 or report it online."
