An e-scooter rider has been reported after officers from West Yorkshire Police spotted him joining 70mph traffic on the M606 motorway in Bradford.

Filmed via their vehicle's dashcam, the rider can be seen joining motorway traffic from a slip road. Luckily the officers were close by to apprehend the offender who was breaking motoring laws as well as risking his own and others' lives by riding an under-powered vehicle on a high speed road.

A spokesperson for West Yorkshire Police Roads Policing Unit @WYP_RPU, said: "M606 Bradford - Officers on patrol were shocked to see this e-scooter on the chevrons trying to join a live motorway lane with 70mph traffic.

"Scooter seized and rider reported. Privately owned e-scooters cannot legally be used on a public road/pavement and only on private land."

Currently, only e-scooters which are registered as part of one of the Government's trial rental schemes are legal to use on designated roads, which are allocated by each local authority who are participating in the trials.
