Watford taxi driver wins Parliamentary Taxi & PHV Award for contributions to trade and community

A Watford taxi driver has won an award at the annual Parliamentary Taxi & Private Hire Awards for his outstanding contributions to the community.

Zaheer Ahmed, a member of the Watford Hackney Carriage Drivers Association, was presented the award by Dean Russell, MP for Watford, who nominated him for the coveted recognition.

Mr Ahmed's contributions to the community have been widely recognised. As chairman, he has consistently worked towards improving working conditions for Watford taxi drivers and promoting safety measures for passengers. His efforts have been instrumental in contributing to the success of the association.

During a recent meeting with Mr Ahmed and a group of Watford taxi representatives, Dean Russell also discussed local taxi issues and opportunities. Among the topics discussed was the successful campaign to save Pryzm, a popular nightclub in the area, which has helped boost the local night-time economy.

Dean Russell commended Mr Ahmed and his colleagues for their commitment to the community. He has also pledged to follow up on the discussions held during the meeting in the coming weeks and looks forward to working closely with the local taxi representatives to address ongoing concerns and promote growth in the industry.
