Wiltshire Police have encountered a significant pothole on a major road, causing concern for drivers in the area.

The large hole, discovered by the Road Police Unit near Junction 16, was shared on social media by a spokesperson from Wiltshire Specialist Ops.

In a light-hearted post, they mentioned how one officer jokingly offered to check its depth, equipped with swimming gear and a recent 5-metre badge.

Wiltshire Council has been notified of the issue and stated they would ‘look into it’ as they work to address the hazard.

Whilst sharing a photo of a huge pothole with water in, a Wiltshire Specialist Ops Police spokesperson said on social media: “Road Police Unit came across this monster pot hole on J16…

“Weirdly our latest recruit was in possession of his swimming trunks and recent 5m badge keen to check the depth.

“The Council have been tasked and in regard to the hole they said they would (literally) ‘look into it’.”
