Wolverhampton Council taxi and PHV licensing officers carry out vehicle checks across Sandwell and Dudley

Licensing compliance officers from City of Wolverhampton Council have carried out vehicle inspections across Sandwell and Dudley as part of ongoing taxi and private hire enforcement activity.
The council's Public Protection team confirmed the patrols took place on Wednesday 14 October, with officers conducting vehicle compliance checks and speaking directly with drivers about the importance of regular tyre inspections.
In a statement published on social media, WV Public Protection said: "Licensing Compliance officers were out on patrol across Sandwell and Dudley yesterday, carrying out vehicle compliance checks and speaking with drivers about the importance of regular tyre inspections."
Images accompanying the announcement showed officers at Sandwell and Dudley railway station distributing guidance on tyre tread requirements, including the legal minimum depth of 1.6mm.
The patrols highlight Wolverhampton's licensing enforcement activity beyond its own council boundaries, with vehicles licensed by the authority operating across neighbouring areas of the West Midlands.
The council has not disclosed how many vehicles were inspected, whether any defects were identified or if enforcement action was taken during the operation.
