A woman has issued a warning to potential Uber passengers after a trip which usually costs her just under £17 was quoted at almost £50.
Sade Maria took to Twitter to highlight the quote, saying: "Do you think this is taking the absolute p***?"
The journey, which ran along near Brighton's seafront, normally costs around £16.90, according to Sade herself, but on this occasion Uber quoted £48.58 for a standard UberX vehicle.
Sade said that there was no way she was going to pay such a price for the trip so opted to use a local firm who charged £17.
Sade wrote: "UberSupport, do you think this is taking the absolute p**s, when this journey usually costs me £16.90. OVER £30 MORE LOL. You got jokes."
Sade posted a screenshot of the quote on her Twitter account which was modified to carry the message "Be safe out there today folks. Uber is out robbing people", along with a laughing emoji.
One person on the post's timeline, said: "Uber are not the only minicab company with an app & they're not necessarily the cheapest or most reliable.
"Check out your local taxi AND minicab services, they nearly all have apps of their own, cheaper than Uber's peak times & you'll be supporting your local economy. STAY SAFE."
