Worcester City Council is proposing changes to Hackney Carriage fares, with separate tariffs covering daytime journeys, nights, Sundays and public holidays.

Under Tariff One, journeys between 7am and midnight from Monday to Saturday would cost £5.60 for the first mile and £2 for each additional mile.

Tariff Two would apply at night, on Sundays, Bank Holidays and specified holidays. The proposed charge is £7.10 for the first mile, followed by £2.80 for each additional mile.

An extra 50p would be charged for every passenger above three. A £75 cleaning fee is also proposed when a vehicle is soiled by a passenger, helping drivers recover some of the cost and lost working time associated with taking a taxi out of service.

The consultation runs from 5 August until 19 August. Written objections must reach the council’s Licensing and Support Services Manager by the closing date. If no objections are received, the revised fare table will take effect on 20 August.
