Wrexham Council seeks public input on revised suitability criteria for taxi standards

Wrexham Council has announced its intention to update the suitability criteria for hackney carriage and private hire drivers, vehicles, and operators, following a statement released earlier this week.

The council has acknowledged that the current standards are not consistent with the guidelines set by the UK Department for Transport (DfT) and the Welsh Government.

In a bid to align with national standards, the council now seeks public input on the proposed revised suitability criteria. The Environmental Licensing Committee will consider these views before making a final decision on the adoption of the new criteria.

The council aims to gather opinions from a variety of stakeholders to ensure a comprehensive assessment of the proposed changes. They are particularly interested in hearing from drivers, operators, vehicle proprietors, trade bodies, users of taxis, user groups, and the residents of the County Borough.

The final date for feedback is Monday 11 December.
