A taxi driver in Colchester, Essex, has been slammed by officers from Essex Police, after he was caught stopping on zigzag lines, despite it being an offence to do so.

A spokesperson for Essex Police - Colchester, said they have recently been dealing with a number of drivers who have stopped illegally on the zigzag road markings, and will continue to enforce the law.

On this occasion a local taxi driver was the offender and, from a picture released by the force, they can be seen clearly parked on zigzag lines despite the whole road being clear.

Essex Police stressed that the offence comes with a £100 fine, and offending drivers can also be hit with 3 penalty points on their driving licence.
