Dubai fly first flying passenger ride

Updated: Apr 3

The first vertical takeoff and set down drone has completed its maiden passenger ride in Dubai on Monday.

The Volocopter, funded by the German company Daimler, exhibited its first ride to the public. The two seater flying taxi prototype lifted the Dubai Crown Prince Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed away on a five minute journey 200 meters above the sandy ground.

The designers of the drone envisage users hailing a Volocopter at designated stations across cities via the use of an app. The cost of such rides have yet to be disclosed.
