Perry Richardson

Labour MP for Ilford North and chair of the All Party Parliamentary Group For Taxis, Wes Streeting MP,  today announced via Twitter that he has approached the Exchequer Secretary, Andrew Jones MP to plead the case for new zero emission taxis to be allowed a vehicle excise duty exemption.

This approach was made ahead of Chancellor of the Exchequer, Phillip  Hammond's budget next week.

Phillip Hammond, the Epping born former Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs has been in his current position since July 13th 2016 and is considered by many to be a steady pair of hands.

Wes Streeting, who has been highly active championing the cause of the taxi industry for a number of years said "he is keeping his fingers crossed for some good news from the chancellor"
