Didi: Coming to America
The worlds second most valued privately owned firm, Didi, is set to launch in Mexico, North America, next year. The ride hailing giants already took on, and beat, Uber in China, but it seems that may not of been enough to celebrate. They now want to take on the controversial ride-sharing app from Silicon Valley on their home turf. Didi's persistence was costing Uber a whopping $1 billion a year to compete. Eventually Uber succumbed and sold their Chinese business to Didi in return for a 17.7 percent stake in the Chinese ride-hail mammoths. Didi are also currently working on a self driving model, and earlier this year opened an R&D centre in California. As reported in the Verge Didi also offers bike-sharing, bus rentals, and a carpooling service called Hitch.
