Will Grayling go in cabinet reshuffle?
Secretary of State for Transport, Chris Grayling, could be set for the chop as Theresa May looks to reshuffle her cabinet.
The Mirror has reported that Theresa May could sack up to a quarter of her cabinet, which may include Education Secretary Justine Greening, Tory Chairman Patrick McLoughlin, Commons Leader Andrea Leadsom and most importantly for the taxi trade, Transport Secretary Chris Grayling.
Chris Grayling is of particular interest to the taxi and private hire industry due to his lack of intervention surrounding cross-border hiring, his reluctance to obtain a definition as to what is deemed to be plying for hire as well as his refusal to allow local authorities to cap private hire numbers, which have spiralled out of control.
There have been calls for Graylings resignation over a bailout to private firms running the East Coast rail line
May's beleaguered tenure in office has recently been buoyed by securing a first-round Brexit deal, so would now see this as the perfect opportunity to refresh and regroup her cabinet.
Will Grayling go? Could Boris Johnson move into the transport role?
