Coventry taxis hailed as the most expensive in UK

In a UK based study Coventry is the most expensive city in the UK to travel by taxi.

Coventry taxis boast an average cost of £3.11 per mile. This is a bizarre twist of fate given that Coventry is the home of taxi manufacturer LEVC.

London came in as the fifth most expensive city with an average cost bast on journeys of between one and five miles at £2.99.

The top 10 came in as follows:

Coventry = £3.11 Leeds = £3.06 Oxford = £3.04 Cambridge = £3.03 London = £2.99 Bristol = £2.90 Southampton = £2.89 Birmingham = £2.82 Manchester = £2.81 Stoke-on-Trent = £2.72

The figures were compiled from local authority data by Regtransfers.co.uk

The 10 cheapest places to ride in a taxi are:

Liverpool = £2.15 Edinburgh = £2.22 Brighton = £2.28 Kingston = £2.45 Swansea = £2.45 Belfast = £2.45 Sunderland = £2.53 Bradford = £2.53 Leicester = £2.60 Nottingham = £2.61

According the data analysis, there are now 281,000 licensed taxi and private hire drivers in England with almost 24,000 taxis and around 114,000 private hire vehicles in London alone.
