Unlimited transport package coming to Birmingham; Taxi rides included

Scandinavian company Whim is set to launch a new transportation package in Birmingham that will allow people to purchase fixed priced monthly deals to use on a number of different options including buses, trains and taxis. The Helsinki firm has put together packages for it's Mobility as a Service platform, also know as MaaS. Passengers will have the option of a pay-as-you-go service as well as a monthly package which comes with unlimited public transport for taxis and car hire availability. There is also the top package, known as the Whim Unlimited option, which for a monthly cost of £349, will provide you with unlimited public transport, all taxi rides within a three-mile radius of their location and up to 30 days car hire per month. Transport for West Midlands and mayors Andy Street support the new product launch in the city, along with the West Midlands Combined Authority. Whim founder Sampo Hietanan, told the Birmingham Mail that he wants to show people that they don't need to be so reliant on car ownership. He believes that the new initiative will help reduce traffic and pollution, improving people's health. Whim's app is said to fit together with the West Midlands Swift travel card which is very similar to the Oyster card which allows you to top up with credit. It is not yet clear what Taxis are being referred to as part of the package deals.
