Another New York cabbie commits suicide

In a tragic turn of events, it has been revealed that another New York taxi driver has committed suicide.

Kenny Chow, who had been missing since May 11th, was found dead in the East River.

The New York Taxi Workers Alliance said that Kenny Chow had committed suicide because of the dire financial straits that he had found himself in after struggling to pay back a $700,000 loan to purchase his medallion.

This desperation was compounded upon discovering that his wife has stage four colon cancer.

The tragic case of Kenny Chow echoes the suicides of four other New York taxi drivers in the last few months.

It is alleged that the unfettered expansion of both Uber and Lyft in New York,  and the financial implications attached to this have been a major contributory factor in Mr Chows suicide, according to Bhairavi Desai, head of the New York Taxi Workers Alliance.
