Police shoot man in back of Durham taxi


Firearms officers have shot a man in the back of a taxi after reports that the suspect was carrying a handgun.
Durham police have said that the man was shot at 10:46 am in Bishop Auckland. The unnamed man was subsequently taken to hospital.
The taxi had stopped at a set of temporary traffic lights, when police swooped and subsequently shot the suspect after he ignored several warnings.
The taxi driver involved in the incident was unharmed during the operation.
Durham Constabulary will be assisting the IPOC investigation imto the shooting.
