Uber driver pleads guilty to killing six people
Michigan Uber driver Jason Dalton has pleaded guilty to six murders, as well as two counts of attempted murder and eight fIrearms offences.
According to a BBC report 48 year old Dalton claimed that the Uber app had controlled his mind and body.
None of the Daltons victims were Uber customers, he did however continue to pick up passengers during the attacks in Kalamazoo.
Dalton submitted his plea while jury selection was taking place, and was done against his attorney's advice.
The first shooting took place outside a residential block, leaving a woman with serious injuries after being shot several times in front of her children.
A father and son were then mortally wounded, with a third victim seriously injured after being shot at a car dealership.
Four people were then killed im the car park of a restaurant, and a 14 year old girl was seriously wounded.
Dalton had undergone the relevant background checks to be on the Uber platform and passed due to the fact he had no prior criminal record.
Daltons plea to offences, which took place in February 2016, carriy a mandatory life sentence without parole.
