mytaxi to rebrand to Free Now in push to offer wider mobility services
Car rentals, e-scooters and public transport options to be included
Daimler and BMW have joined forces to create a new European mobility group within a new brand family. mytaxi is part of this, alongside brands like car2go, DriveNow and other mobility providers. A statement sent to drivers on the mytaxi platform said: ‘The new brand family will keep you moving through the city. We understand that everyday urban mobility is about more than booking a mytaxi. “Sometimes you need a car2go or DriveNow, sometimes you want to park or charge. These and many other popular services will be united in one brand family. Our goal is to make it as easy as possible for you to choose between these services and apps.” So what’s going change? Not a lot when it comes to the service you already see when it comes to mytaxi. The mytaxi app will move to Free Now later this year which will merge together with other mobility apps. The new Free Now app will offer other options like carsharing (car rentals), Taxis, access to public transport or even E-Scooters. The variety featured on the new app is hoped to make it easier for the customer to pick exactly the mobility option they need. You can find out more here.
According to sources there will be no private-hire or minicab options available on the new app. The car sharing option relates to customers wishing to rent a car via the Free Now app.
