Stoke-on-Trent dual licensed driver with 52 points on his drivers licence has been finally banned

A taxi driver with an astonishing 52 points on his DVLA licence has been stripped of his Stoke-on-Trent taxi licence after failing to disclose them.

Council officials also stated that the cab driver in question 'refused to pick up disabled passengers' and a further complaint of 'racial aggression' was also made against him.

Most worryingly of all is that the taxi driver failed to notify the Licensing Service he had been disqualified from driving and showed a 'blatant disregard for the licensing conditions'. During the council hearing the dual licensed driver’s attitude was also questioned, as he played down the motoring offences that endangered the both customers and the general public. 

The council said the driver, who can not be named, was not a 'safe and suitable person' to continue holding a licence. He has now been stripped of both his Hackney Carriage and his Private Hire licenses. 

Councillor Randy Conteh, Stoke-onTrent City Council's cabinet member for housing, communities and safer city, said via Stoke-on-Trent Live: “The safety and security of people who are travelling with taxi drivers licensed by the council is absolutely paramount. "We only license fit and proper people to be taxi drivers, and do a lot of work to make sure residents can step into any taxi with confidence. 

"However, when people are dishonest or do not declare driving bans, it makes our job more difficult. "We will not tolerate dishonesty. We welcome the decision of the panel to immediately revoke the licence, and hope this sends out a clear message to all licenced drivers about the high standards the city council – and our residents – expect them to maintain.”
