The cab you drive: Impressive month of sales and decommission payments start kicking in
Even for a new registration month, LEVC putting 193 new TXEs on the road in March is impressive. From talk at the dealerships it would appear as if April is going to see good figures as well because the decommissioning money is starting to flow into driver’s bank accounts. This, coupled with some of the deals being offered, such as the five year warranty and five years of servicing, is helping to lift the numbers.
There is no change in the second hand market as we now call it, the pre- owned market. Many older cabs have vanished as a result of the delicensing scheme and everyone else is sitting on their hands waiting to see what happens with the age-limit reduction proposal.
Interestingly, I spoke to a driver last week who had decommissioned a 60 plate Vito for £10k and then sold it outside town for another £10k; whatever way you look at it that’s a result, and it probably won’t be long before others follow his lead.
