Black Taxi drives straight through wall of Spar petrol station narrowly missing shopper

Michael Murphy

A female shopper narrowly escaped being ploughed down by a taxi which drove straight through the wall of a Spar petrol station in Burnley.  The incident took place at around 11pm at the Spar shop at Kitchen's Garage in Trafalgar Street. Chloe Egan, who shot the images on her camera said she was standing inches away from taxi as it came crashing through, completely destroying the shop.

Ms Egan said the shelving nearest to the window started toppling down towards her.

The dramatic footage was caught on the dashcam of a vehicle parked in the petrol and posted to social media by Daniel Murton, with the tagline: "Can I have a taxi to the crisp isle hahahaha"

The shop was closed for several hours while the taxi was removed safely.

The petrol station reopened today just to sell fuel as the majority of the store was inaccessible.

No members of staff were injured in the incident.

Burnley police confirmed that the driver of the taxi was questioned. No further details have been released as of yet.
