Tesco’s Clubcard tie-up with Uber to come to an end

Tesco’s controversial two year Clubcard tie-up with Uber is set to come to an end.

In June 2017 TaxiPoint exclusively revealed that Tesco and Uber would be joining forces, with Tesco allowing their customers to use their Clubcard points on Uber rides.

Clubcard customers will be able to redeem their points for credit to spend on Uber until 10 July 2019, when the scheme will end according to Tesco sources.

Currently, customers can triple their Tesco Clubcard vouchers and redeem them for rides on the Uber app. However, you will only be able to use those vouchers on the minicab app until 10 July.

Beyond July 10, you will then have six months from the point you made the swap to redeem your as credit on the app, with the expiration date will be clearly shown on the vouchers. Uber is the latest in a line of companies cutting ties with Tesco, which has seen Evans Cycles and Europcar as well as others depart the scheme One of the ways in which the scheme worked was that you could turn a maximum of £50 worth of Clubcard vouchers into £150 of Uber credit via each transaction, however there was nothing stopping an individual making multiple transactions. You were also allowed a maximum of £1,000 of Uber credit at any given time. Uber have yet to comment on the expiry of the scheme.
