LEVC celebrates 70th anniversary of the Commonwealth

Perry Richardson

This year, the Commonwealth celebrates its 70th Anniversary and London Electric Vehicle Company (LEVC) became patrons of the official History of Parliament Trust commemorative album titled Commonwealth at 70 – From Westminster to the World.

The launch of the publication took place at Westminster Abbey and hosted delegates from around the world, including members of UK parliament and representatives from the 53 member states that make up the Commonwealth.

Carl-Peter Foster, Chairman of LEVC, said: “His Royal Highness is synonymous with the promotion of more sustainable living and LEVC was delighted to welcome him earlier this year to the UK’s first dedicated electric vehicle factory, built following investment from Geely.”

LEVC has also recently announced an extension to its model range, with the addition of a new electric light commercial vehicle with a launch date of 2020 which will be produced in the same Coventry facilities as the electric taxi.

Robert Jobson, Royal correspondent, editor and co-author of the international no.1 best seller, said: “I am delighted that LEVC is applying the lessons learnt from designing and building London’s electric black cabs to this new van. Developing clean, sustainable, electric vehicles is essential in order to tackle our air quality emergency and the climate change crisis. London’s commitment to clean air policies is driving our pursuit of a positive electric future for all.”
