Two men to face court after chasing and attacking Bournemouth cabbie

Two men are to face court after a cab driver was allegedly chased between Cristchurch and Bournemouth before attacking his vehicle.

TaxiPoint reported on 17 March that the incident began at around 1.30am on Thursday 21 February at the Somerford roundabout in Christchurch, when a taxi driver was allegedly followed by two people in an Audi TT.

It was also alleged that after the taxi had stopped at traffic lights near the Hilton Hotel in Exeter Road, the occupants of the Audi TT got out and punched and kicked the driver’s door and window, and smashed the windscreen.

Police had initially released dashcam footage of one of the Audi's occupants climbing on the bonnet of the taxi, a Black Seat Toledo, and attacking it. Following an image appeal issued by police, a 17-year-old boy and 24-year-old man, both from Lymington in Hampshire, came forward.

18 year old Ryan Bradford of Bridge Road, Lymington, and 25 year old Corey Chambers of Tithe Barn, Lymington, have been issued with postal requisitions for damaging a windscreen and using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour with intent.

Chambers will also be facing an allegation of driving without due care and attention.
