Unwell taxi driver mounts pavement injuring pedestrian in Edinburgh collision

An unwell taxi driver has mounted the pavement in Edinburgh leaving a pedestrian seriously injured according to reports. Police Scotland Control Room suggest the accident happened at 1pm on North Castle Street in Edinburgh City Centre.
Road closure remain between George Street and Queen Street. According to BBC sources, a male pedestrian in his 50’s has been left seriously injured and taken to nearby Edinburgh Royal Infirmary. The taxi driver and passengers were being assessed by paramedics at the scene. Police believe the cabbie had a “medical episode” before the collision.
